Kiwi Dancer Fulfills Dream by Joining Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders

## Faith Ward Joins the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders
Wellington native Faith Ward has made history by becoming the first dancer from New Zealand to join the renowned Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. The famous cheerleading squad gained widespread recognition last year from a Netflix docuseries showcasing auditions for “America’s Sweethearts” for the 2024 football season.
This year, Faith was selected as one of only six rookies, triumphing over countless other hopefuls. After enduring rigorous training and facing difficult team cuts, she secured her position among the final squad of 36 cheerleaders.
### Excitement and Pride
“I am super excited to represent New Zealand and super proud,” expressed the 22-year-old in a Breakfast interview. “Everything I worked towards has finally paid off, and honestly, I’m still pinching myself. It’s a dream come true.”
Ward shared that the intense training camp has concluded, and she and her teammates are now deep into rehearsals, preparing for their first game against the Los Angeles Rams on August 10.
“I’m feeling so excited but also overwhelmed, as there’s so much information to absorb,” Ward admitted. Being a rookie in a team of experienced cheerleaders adds to her nerves, but she feels confident they will excel when game day arrives.
She emphasized the physical demands of cheerleading, stating, “We’re literally athletes, putting our bodies through intense strain every day to do what we love.” Ward highlighted the importance of proper warm-up and cool-down routines for recovery.
### Signature Moves and Team Spirit
One standout aspect of the cheerleading routine is the opening dance set to AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck,” specifically featuring a synchronized kickline. Ward described the challenge of executing these high kicks paired with a jump split at the end.

### A Warm Welcome
Having moved to Australia at age ten, Ward remarked that her new teammates have been exceptionally welcoming, despite her noticeable New Zealand accent. “They often ask me to repeat myself because of my accent, which makes for some laughs,” she shared, reflecting on the bonding moments with her new cheer family.
