Kantara Chapter 1 advance booking indicates a substantial opening for Rishab Shetty’s latest film.

Rishab Shetty‘s highly anticipated film, Kantara Chapter 1, is set to release in theaters this Thursday, October 2, coinciding with Dussehra. This film acts as a prequel to the 2021 blockbuster, Kantara, generating significant excitement. The original enjoyed immense success, particularly in Karnataka and Northern India, setting high expectations for the prequel.

Rishab Shetty plays the lead role and directs Kantara Chapter 1, the prequel to the 2022 hit.

Kantara Chapter 1’s Advance Booking

The advance ticket sales for Kantara Chapter 1 commenced on Sunday, just four days prior to the film’s premiere. In the first 24 hours, ticket pre-sales grossed around ₹5.7 crore, with 1.7 lakh tickets sold. This rapid pace guarantees a more significant opening than that of the original Kantara, which debuted with ₹2 crore in India in 2022.

As the film gears up for its release, it is already outpacing the advance booking records of recent major releases, including Pawan Kalyan’s OG and Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s War 2, neither of which reached ₹5 crore in advance bookings just three days before launch. Comparatively, Kantara Chapter 1 is also outperforming Yash’s KGF: Chapter 1, which held the title of the highest-grossing Kannada film until recently.

With its current trajectory, Kantara Chapter 1 looks poised not only to surpass but also significantly exceed the ₹400 crore gross of the first film, especially with a strong start in advance bookings. The majority of ticket sales thus far have been in Kannada, yet with more screens scheduled to launch in the Hindi region over the coming days, these numbers are expected to rise further. Currently, advance bookings have hit ₹36 lakh in Hindi, alongside ₹5 lakh from Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam combined, ensuring the majority stems from the Karnataka release.
