On its first day, the film amassed approximately ₹60 crore in India, with the Kannada version contributing ₹18 crore and the Hindi dubbed version ₹19 crore. Other language versions also performed well, indicating the film’s pan-Indian appeal.
By 10 PM on the subsequent Friday, the film added another ₹43.65 crore to its collection, bringing the total to ₹105.5 crore. Although this is slightly lower than the opening day’s ₹61.85 crore, positive word-of-mouth has helped maintain strong audience turnout.
Trade analysts note that Kantara Chapter 1 has not only excelled domestically but has also achieved approximately $2 million in foreign markets, with a worldwide gross reaching ₹90 crore on its first day.

Kantara Chapter 1 serves as a prequel to its predecessor released in 2022, which was a sleeper hit earning over ₹400 crore on a budget of ₹15 crore. Set a millennium before the original, the film features a talented cast including Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Gulshan Devaiah alongside Rishab Shetty.
This film’s success elevates it to the status of the highest-grossing Kannada film of the year, surpassing the previous record held by Su From So, which netted ₹92 crore last month.
