Kantara Chapter 1 Creators Advise Against Imitating Daiva Characters in Public

Makers of Kantara Chapter 1 Caution Fans Against Imitation
The film, Kantara Chapter 1, featuring actor Rishab Shetty, has been receiving both critical acclaim and box office success. Recently, a video surfaced showing a fan dressed as a Daiva entering a theater in Tamil Nadu, prompting some fans to recreate scenes from the film outside theaters. In response, Hombale Films released a statement urging fans to refrain from impersonating the Daiva characters, emphasizing that these figures should not be subject to performance or recreation.
Kantara Chapter 1 Makers Share Their Concerns
The statement on Hombale Films’ X account highlighted the cultural significance of Dhaivaradhane, which is central to the Tulu community’s spiritual beliefs. They mentioned, “We aim to depict this devotion accurately and honor the legacy of the Daivas.”
They expressed gratitude for the movie’s positive reception, but also noted concerns about inappropriate behavior by fans imitating Daiva characters in public settings.
Respecting Cultural Traditions
The filmmakers insisted, “Dhaivaradhane is not merely a form of entertainment; it is grounded in profound spiritual tradition. Mimicking these characters trivializes our beliefs and can hurt the sentiments of the Tulu community.” They strongly appealed for audiences to respect the sanctity of these cultural representations.
As part of their message, they urged everyone to recognize the spiritual importance of the characters portrayed, advocating for responsible behavior that preserves cultural heritage.
Set against the backdrop of the Kadamba dynasty in Karnataka, **Kantara Chapter 1** explores the rich cultural heritage of the region. Released in multiple languages, including Kannada, Hindi, and Tamil, the film also features notable actors like Rukmini Vasanth and Jayaram. The film debuted in theaters on October 2.
