Kantara Chapter 1 box office collection day 12: Rishab Shetty’s film experiences a dip while nearing ₹450 crore
Kantara Chapter 1 box office collection day 12: After a robust second weekend, the film shows signs of slowing down.
Kantara Chapter 1 box office collection day 12: Rishab Shetty’s mythological action film has made significant waves since its release on October 2. Following a promising spike in ticket sales over the second weekend, the film now appears to be experiencing a slowdown, gathering close to the ₹450 crore milestone in India.
Kantara Chapter 1 box office performance
According to recent reports, Kantara Chapter 1 had a successful second weekend. It gathered ₹39 crore on its second Saturday and ₹39.75 crore on Sunday, totaling ₹78.75 crore for that weekend. However, by the following Monday, the film saw a significant decline, earning only ₹10.39 crore, bringing its total domestic earnings to ₹448.79 crore.
This film has managed to surpass major hits such as Rajinikanth’s Jailer (₹348.55 crore) and Baahubali: The Beginning (₹420 crore), but it has yet to eclipse the lifetime earnings of Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava, which remains the highest-grossing film with ₹601.54 crore.
About Kantara Chapter 1
Directed and written by Rishab Shetty, under the production of Vijay Kiragandur and Chaluve Gowda, the film features a talented cast including Jayaram, Rukmini Vasanth, and Gulshan Devaiah. Set in pre-colonial coastal Karnataka, it serves as a prequel to the acclaimed 2022 film, Kantara, delving into the ancient roots of the Buta Kola ritual.
Upon its release, the film received high praise from audiences and critics alike, with special commendation for Rishab’s dual role as lead actor and director. Many notable industry figures, including Ram Gopal Varma and Mahesh Babu, took to social media to commend the film, labeling it a “masterpiece.”
In just 12 days, Kantara Chapter 1 has also achieved impressive global earnings, crossing the ₹600 crore mark.
