Kalyani Priyadarshan portrays a superhero vampire in Lokah Chapter 1 – Chandra.
Lokah: The First Malayalam Film to Cross ₹300 Crore
Debuting in theaters on August 28, Lokah has quickly turned into the year’s unexpected blockbuster. According to industry reports, it has surpassed ₹299.9 crore within the first 40 days of release, officially crossing the ₹300 crore threshold.
This achievement establishes Lokah as the first ever to reach this significant benchmark in Malayalam cinema, leaving in its dust the previous record holders like Mohanlal’s L2 Empuraan, which earned ₹265.5 crore, and Soubin Shahir’s Manjummel Boys with ₹240 crore.
Currently still screening, Lokah not only stands as the highest-grossing Malayalam film but also holds the records for the highest grossing in Kerala and the third-highest opening weekend for a Malayalam film globally.
