Kajol and Rani Mukerji Share Heartfelt Moments with Family During Durga Puja
Bollywood cousins Kajol and Rani Mukerji gathered in Mumbai to kick off their family’s Durga Puja celebrations, unveiling the idol of Goddess Durga.
Renowned actors and cousins Kajol and Rani Mukerji reunited this Saturday for their annual Durga Puja festivities in Mumbai. They were accompanied by Kajol’s sister, Tanishaa Mukerji, and their cousin, Sharbani Mukherji, at the North Bombay Durga Puja pandal where the idol was unveiled, signaling the start of the celebrations.
Kajol and Rani’s Emotional Embrace
Although the atmosphere was festive, it was tinged with sadness as the family commemorated Deb Mukherjee, the father of filmmaker Ayan Mukerji, who passed away in March 2025. He was instrumental in organizing the family’s Durga Puja celebrations, making his absence profoundly felt.
A touching moment was captured where Kajol, Rani, Tanishaa, and Sharbani embraced each other with tears in their eyes. Kajol also shared a heartfelt hug with Ayan, underscoring the family’s close-knit bond during this emotional time.
Everyone in the family donned traditional attire for the occasion. Kajol wore a stunning silk saree with a red blouse, while Rani opted for a graceful white saree accented with a floral border in black and red. Ayan maintained a simple yet festive look in a classic white kurta-pajama.
Durga Puja, or Durgotsava, celebrates the victory of Goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasura. According to Hindu beliefs, the goddess visits her earthly home during this time to bless her followers. This year’s festivities officially begin on September 28 and conclude on October 2.
Kajol and Rani’s Ongoing Projects
Kajol is currently hosting “Too Much With Kajol & Twinkle” on Prime Video, featuring interviews with Bollywood stars. The inaugural episode featured guests Salman Khan and Aamir Khan.
Meanwhile, Rani is celebrating her first National Award win for her performance in “Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway.” She will soon be seen in “Mardaani 3,” directed by Abhiraj Minawala.
