Fall Out Boy Announces Hiatus for Joe Trohman
Fall Out Boy has shared that they will continue their performances this year without founding guitarist Joe Trohman. Trohman will be taking a break to undergo hand surgery.
Joe Trohman’s Statement
The announcement was made by Trohman on Monday through social media. He expressed, “After years of managing ongoing issues with my right hand, it’s become clear that I need surgery to avoid permanent damage. Unfortunately, this means I’ll have to take the rest of the year off from playing with the band.” He added a hopeful note, saying, "The silver lining is that I’m on track for a full recovery."
Previous Break for Mental Health
Earlier in 2023, Trohman had stepped away from the band to focus on his mental well-being. He mentioned that his mental health had significantly declined over the years, leading him to make the difficult decision to take a break from Fall Out Boy.
Upcoming Performances
Despite Trohman’s absence, Fall Out Boy is scheduled to perform at various festivals this summer. Their lineup includes appearances at Calgary’s Cowboys Music Festival on July 8, the Minnesota Yacht Club Fest on July 19, and Oceans Calling in Ocean City, Maryland, on September 28. Additionally, they will be at Summer Sonic in Japan in August, followed by performances in Brazil.
