Jitendra Kumar Embraces New Challenges in ‘Bhagwat Chapter 1: Raakshas’
Excited to step out of my comfort zone: Jitendra Kumar on ‘Bhagwat Chapter 1: Raakshas’ role
Jitendra Kumar, known for his role in “Panchayat,” shares his excitement about portraying a complex character in the upcoming crime thriller “Bhagwat Chapter One: Raakshas.” His character, a college professor with hidden secrets, is a departure from his previous roles, offering him a chance to explore new dimensions.
The film pairs Jitendra’s character, Sameer, against Arshad Warsi’s inspector Vishwas Bhagwat, who is assigned to investigate the alarming disappearances of young women. Directed by Akshay Shere, the ZEE5 original series dives deep into the underlying mysteries of human nature.
At 35, Jitendra has emerged as a strong presence in entertainment, transitioning from “Kota Factory” to diverse roles in films like “Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan” and “Jaadugar.” He acknowledges the unique challenges that this role presents.
“It was thrilling to step out of my comfort zone. This character was challenging for me, and I was uncertain about how to approach it. Each hurdle brought a different thrill,” Jitendra remarked during an interview.
He expressed his eagerness to explore the crime-thriller genre, noting the character’s complexity as a significant draw. “The dynamic between our characters and their intertwined lives fascinated me,” he shared.
Working alongside Arshad Warsi was equally inspiring for Jitendra. He appreciated Warsi’s approach on set, noting, “His ability to seamlessly transition into character during scenes was captivating. Our collaboration fostered creative discussions that enriched our performances.”
Despite having portrayed various characters, Jitendra initially feared being typecast. However, he feels he has managed to diversify his portrayal effectively. “Playing similar characters requires versatility. If I feel typecast, I am committed to exploring new genres and roles, just as I did with ‘Bhagwat,'” he explained.
Since the story is inspired by real incidents, Jitendra aimed to present his character’s motivations authentically. “I enjoyed the narrative and focused on showcasing its intricate layers. I strive not to judge my characters and maintain sincerity in my performances,” he articulated.
“Bhagwat Chapter 1: Raakshas,” produced by Jio Studios, will premiere on October 17 on ZEE5. The cast also includes Ayesha Kaduskar, Hemant Saini, and Tara-Alisha Berry.
