Jaya Bachchan Praises Agastya Nanda: Unique and Independent Star After ‘Ikkis’ Trailer
Jaya Bachchan shares insights about her grandson Agastya Nanda in light of his upcoming film Ikkis
The year 2025 has favored newcomers in Bollywood, and the trend continues into December with the anticipated release of Ikkis. This film tells the inspiring story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, India’s youngest Param Vir Chakra recipient. Directed by Sriram Raghavan and produced by Maddock Films, Ikkis signifies Agastya Nanda’s debut in a theatrical film. The young actor, who embarked on his career two years ago with The Archies, also features new talent Simar Bhatia.
During Diwali, the trailer for Ikkis was shown in theaters paired with another film, Thamma, and later made available online. Agastya’s portrayal of Arun Khetarpal has already captivated audiences, while Simar’s on-screen charisma has also garnered attention. Ahead of the film’s December release, Jaya Bachchan spoke to Bollywood Hungama about her grandson’s path in the industry. She stated, “Luckily, Agastya is a fast learner. His parents are not actors, so he’s relying on his grandparents and his uncle, Abhishek Bachchan, for advice.”
Jaya expressed her pride, stating, “I typically hesitate to praise, especially when it comes to my own family. But Agastya is truly special. He is determined to carve out his own future, much like I did. He won’t just follow the crowd.” As the son of author and columnist Shweta Bachchan-Nanda, Agastya is also the nephew of stars Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, continuing a legacy of talent in his family.
As the release of Ikkis approaches, we wish Agastya all the best. His journey has just begun, and anticipation is high for his performance.
