Idles Unleash Fiery New Single ‘Rabbit Run’ for Darren Aronofsky’s Film

## New Music from Idles

Idles has unveiled their latest single, “Rabbit Run,” crafted for Darren Aronofsky’s upcoming film *Caught Stealing*. This track is part of a broader collaboration, as the band has also contributed three more original songs to the film’s soundtrack. Additionally, they’ve recorded the complete score composed by Rob Simonsen. The soundtrack is set to release on August 29 through Protozoa/Partisan Records, featuring a cover of Junior Marvin’s classic “Police and Thieves,” famously covered by The Clash in 1977.

## The Inspiration Behind “Rabbit Run”

“Rabbit Run” channels the raw energy of the 1990s New York punk scene, creating a vibrant backdrop that aligns with the essence of *Caught Stealing*. The film, which will hit theaters on August 29, stars Austin Butler as a former baseball player turned bartender, who becomes embroiled with a group of menacing gangsters.

## A Unique Opportunity

“This has been an incredible opportunity for us, arising from a spontaneous meeting backstage at Fallon where we were both guests,” Idles’ frontman, Joe Talbot, expressed in an interview. He added, “In retrospect, Darren is among my favorite directors, and his films have profoundly shaped my journey as an artist. This surreal experience has been a long time coming, filled with immense gratitude and joy.”

## Collaborating with a Visionary

Aronofsky shared his excitement, stating, “I designed *Caught Stealing* to be a thrilling ride and aimed to infuse it with a punk vibe. I can’t think of a better band than Idles to collaborate with for this project. It’s been a dream to witness their music amplify our film.”

Rob Simonsen echoed these sentiments, saying, “Working with Darren on this third project was exhilarating. We crafted a score using Idles as our orchestra, starting with their unique sound. Their innovative use of feedback and distortion made this an inspiring challenge. They are not only remarkable musicians but also genuine individuals with heart and passion.”

## A Star-Studded Cast

*Caught Stealing* features an impressive lineup including Regina King, Zoë Kravitz, Matt Smith, Liev Schreiber, Vincent D’Onofrio, Griffin Dunne, Benito Martínez Ocasio, and Carol Kane. Directed by Aronofsky, the film is based on a screenplay by Charlie Huston, drawing from his book of the same name.
