Hatchie Unveils Latest Single “Lose It Again” Before Upcoming EP Launch

Hatchie has revealed her upcoming album, Liquorice, set to launch on November 7th. The lead single, “Lose It Again,” is already available and showcases the dreamy essence of her sound.
Teaming up with producer Melina Duterte, known as Jay Som, Hatchie explores a more genuine and unfiltered version of herself in Liquorice. The album delves into themes of longing and obsession, mirroring the complex journey of self-discovery in young womanhood, much like the varied tastes of liquorice candy.
Exciting New Directions
The single “Lose It Again” offers a glimpse into Hatchie’s evolving style, clearly marking a bold step forward. Co-written with Jeremy McLennan, the track comes with a charmingly lo-fi video inspired by the 90s, directed by her long-time collaborator and partner, Joe Agius.
Personal Reflections and Growth
According to Hatchie, whose real name is Harriette Pilbeam, this album signifies the culmination of her artistic journey. She expressed, “I focused on the finer details of the trajectory of love found and lost, inspired by my favourite tragic romance films. I’ve never felt more aligned with an album and can’t wait to share the experience with everyone.”
Taking a break from touring allowed Hatchie to reevaluate her life and nurture her relationships with loved ones. This introspection deeply influenced her work, resulting in an album that reflects a woman becoming more comfortable in her own skin.
Embracing Musical Authenticity
While Hatchie has always been open about her influences, she decided to create this album without any specific musical references in mind. By allowing the songs to develop over time and embracing her artistic limitations, she discovered a melodic simplicity reminiscent of her earlier work.
This week, Hatchie returned to Brisbane for BIGSOUND, reconnecting with the music scene that first supported her as she showcases her new material.
