This contemporary iteration centers on Powell’s character, Ben Richards, who participates in a dangerous television game show to secure funds for his ailing daughter. Contestants, termed “Runners,” must evade deadly pursuers known as “Hunters” for 30 grueling days. As Ben gains popularity among viewers, he poses a threat to the oppressive system behind the game.
This film boasts a strong cast, featuring Colman Domingo as the charismatic host Bobby Thompson, with Katy O’Brian joining as another contestant. Lee Pace takes on the role of a top Hunter, while Michael Cera portrays Bradley, an ally to Ben. Additional stars include William H. Macy, Emilia Jones, Daniel Ezra, and Jayme Lawson.
Director Edgar Wright, celebrated for his energetic style, co-wrote the screenplay alongside Michael Bacall, recognized for works like *Scott Pilgrim vs. the World* and *21 Jump Street*.
