G-Dragon’s Team Explains Bangkok Concert Cancellation Amid Fan Outcry

On August 2, G-Dragon’s concert in Bangkok was officially canceled by the concert organizer AEG Presents Asia on July 10. This announcement came just two days after intense protests from fans regarding the actions of G-Dragon’s agency. Following backlash over the cancellation of the Übermensch show, the label provided reasons for the decision on July 11, according to Korean media outlet My Daily.
Fan Protests Led to Cancellation of G-Dragon’s Übermensch Concert
Initial speculation surrounding the cancellation of the Bangkok Übermensch concert revolved around the rising dissatisfaction among fans with Galaxy Corporation’s management of G-Dragon’s schedule. Fans even resorted to using protest trucks to highlight issues such as long delays in show start times and unauthorized ticket sales.
These protests showcased fan frustrations over numerous complaints about the agency’s handling of the event. The situation escalated, leading to the official cancellation announcement.
However, a recent notice revealed the primary reason for canceling the Bangkok show was different from what many anticipated.
Agency Cites Health Concerns for Concert Cancellation
According to Galaxy Corporation, the cancellation stemmed from safety concerns related to the Rajamangala National Stadium’s outdoor setting. They stated, “The cancellation of this [Bangkok] concert was necessary due to a series of heatstroke cases caused by current record-breaking heatwaves.” The agency prioritized the health and safety of attendees in making this decision.
Galaxy Corporation also mentioned that they will announce a new concert date and venue, keeping in mind the ongoing heat waves and rainy season to ensure the safety of both the artist and the audience. They expressed regret over the inconvenience this may cause for ticket holders.
Furthermore, they emphasized their commitment to delivering a performance that meets fans’ expectations, ensuring that concertgoers will have a memorable experience in the future. Despite citing weather conditions for the cancellation, the agency chose not to address allegations of mismanagement.
