On Tuesday, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to posthumously award the Padma Shri to the beloved actor Satish Shah. This gesture aims to honor Shah’s significant contributions to the Indian film industry.
The veteran actor passed away on October 25, leaving a notable gap in the entertainment realm. His recent departure has sparked calls for a meaningful tribute to commemorate his legacy. FWICE has penned a letter advocating for the Padma Shri award due to Shah’s extensive career in film and television.

Film Body’s Call for Honor
FWICE’s letter describes Satish Shah as “a gifted artist who brought joy and laughter” to millions through his memorable roles in iconic series and movies. The organization emphasized their wish for the government to acknowledge his contributions to Indian culture.
The heartfelt request stated, “With folded hands and deep respect, we appeal to your good self to kindly consider conferring the Padma Shri Award (Posthumously) upon Late Shri Satish Shah.” The letter highlighted Shah’s legacy, showcasing his impactful performances in renowned productions.
The film body acknowledges Satish Shah’s immense contribution to cinema.
FWICE believes that awarding him would be a fitting tribute, recognizing not just his acting but also his broader impact on the arts.
“Honoring him with the Padma Shri Award would be a most fitting tribute to a life devoted to art, culture, and service through entertainment,” they conveyed.
Legacy of Satish Shah
Shah passed away at the age of 74 after collapsing at his residence. Despite efforts to revive him, he couldn’t be saved.
His health had been declining, having undergone a kidney transplant a couple of months prior. Colleagues, like Rajesh Kumar, clarified that his passing was due to a heart attack, not kidney complications.
Shah’s funeral was marked by a gathering of family and friends in Mumbai, highlighting the impact he made during his lifetime.
