## Allegations of Abuse
In her legal complaint, Tahliah Barnett—professionally known as Twigs—accused Shia LaBeouf of both verbal and physical abuse during a challenging relationship that began shortly after they collaborated on the film *Honey Boy* in 2018. Barnett, who is 37 years old, alleged that LaBeouf, 39, attempted to strangle her on multiple occasions, including a disturbing incident at a gas station in February 2019.
### Details of the Incidents
According to the lawsuit, LaBeouf allegedly assaulted Barnett by throwing her against a car and trying to strangle her while screaming at her. She also claimed that before the gas station altercation, he threw her to the ground outside a hotel and drove recklessly, threatening to crash their vehicle unless she professed her unwavering love for him.
## LaBeouf’s Response
Initially, LaBeouf expressed remorse in an email to the *New York Times* after Barnett made her accusations public. He stated, “I have no excuses for my alcoholism or aggression, only rationalizations. I have a history of hurting the people closest to me, and I’m ashamed of that history.”
### Denial of Allegations
However, in February 2021, LaBeouf’s legal team denied Barnett’s claims, asserting that he did not cause her any harm and that she was not entitled to any reparations. The trial was scheduled to commence on September 29.
Barnett chose to dismiss her case “with prejudice,” which indicates that she has no intention of bringing the claims back in the future.
