First Glimpse: HBO Kicks Off Filming for New Harry Potter Series

HBO has officially kicked off production on the eagerly awaited Harry Potter TV series adaptation, as announced on Monday, July 14. This announcement included an exciting first glimpse of the lead character.
The picture shared by HBO features Dominic McLaughlin portraying Harry Potter, complete with the iconic Hogwarts uniform, round glasses, and the signature lightning bolt scar—a nod to the version portrayed by Daniel Radcliffe in the original film series.
Filming has commenced at Warner Bros Studios Leavesden in the UK, with a projected release set for 2027.
New Cast Members Revealed
In addition to McLaughlin, the network introduced a new group of actors, including Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Louise Brealey as Madam Rolanda Hooch, and Anton Lesser as Garrick Ollivander.
Earlier announcements included McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. High-profile actors like Paapa Essiedu, portraying Severus Snape, John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, and Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley were also revealed for key roles.

This new series adaptation comes nearly 14 years after the release of the final film, “Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2.” The franchise has expanded far beyond the films, inspiring a Broadway play, various video games, and immersive theme parks since the release of the first installment 28 years ago.
