It’s been two years since the passing of Sinéad O’Connor, and now a biopic dedicated to the iconic Irish singer is on its way.

### Focus of the Film

Reportedly, the film will delve into O’Connor’s early life and rise to fame. Her breakout moment came in 1990 with the powerful cover of Prince’s “Nothing Compares 2 U,” which topped the charts, solidifying her status as a renowned pop artist.

As noted by *Variety*, the project has been in development since the release of Kathryn Ferguson’s 2022 documentary, *Nothing Compares*. Josephine Decker, known for directing *Shirley* in 2020, will take the helm of this new cinematic venture, with a screenplay crafted by Stacey Gregg. The film is backed by the Irish company ie: entertainment, which also produced *Nothing Compares*, alongside Nine Daughters and See-Saw Films.

### O’Connor’s Legacy

Sinéad O’Connor passed away in July 2023 at the age of 56, due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma. At the time, she had nearly completed her final album. Her management indicated that she was actively reviewing potential tour dates and contemplating a biopic based on her memoir, *Rememberings*.
