Exciting New Thai Thriller Features Singapore’s Pierre Png and Cynthia Koh

Some of the brightest talents from Thailand and Singapore are uniting for an exciting new co-produced series currently being filmed in Bangkok and Singapore.

Titled *Decalcomania*, the story revolves around two women: a privileged socialite from Singapore and a tough nightclub owner in Bangkok. After a car accident leads to an unexpected body switch, they discover they are long-lost twins. The Thai actress Mookda Narinrak portrays both characters.

The cast also features Chai Chatayodom Hiranyatithi from *Master Of The House* and Thaneth Warakulnukroh from *Mad Unicorn*. Singaporean actors include Pierre Png, Cynthia Koh, Hong Huifang, Amy Cheng, and emerging talent Gladys Ng.

Viewers can catch the series on the Thai TV channel ONE31 and the OneD app later this year, with a release on mewatch slated for early next year.

Png, who gained international recognition from *Crazy Rich Asians*, is taking on the role of a “very dedicated policeman.” He described his character as serious on the job but warm at home, driven to dismantle a wealthy businessman’s empire tied to his family’s history.

Despite knowing only a few Thai phrases—mostly the inappropriate ones—he has expressed admiration for Thai productions like *How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies*. “There’s a clever twist,” he noted, adding that Thai comedies often feature intelligent plots.

Png believes he shares similarities with his character, particularly in his respect for women and empathy for marginalized communities. His recent initiatives include learning sign language and founding a movement called SPEAK, focusing on suicide prevention through empathy and awareness.

“It’s crucial to educate today’s youth about mental health,” he stated. “Although I don’t have kids of my own, I feel responsible for advocating for my younger relatives and friends’ children.”

Executive producer Michelle Chang emphasized that Png was her first and only choice for his role in *Decalcomania*. She brought the concept to Thai entertainment powerhouse The One Enterprise, initiating this exciting cross-border collaboration.

Along with director Chai Yee Wei and writer Chance Wanlass, who also co-created the acclaimed film *Wonderland*, Chang was keen on utilizing Thai talent for this project. “I had full faith in his ability to balance comedy and drama,” she remarked about Png.

Showrunner Nipon Pewnen was equally impressed after Png’s audition, stating, “He has the talent to portray that dichotomy—tough cop at work, loving husband at home.” Everyone involved was thrilled with his performance.

The creation of *Decalcomania* required extensive collaboration between Thai and Singaporean writing teams, with scripts going through back-and-forth translations.

Once filming began, the crew from both nations bonded quickly, despite language barriers, thanks to what Chang humorously dubbed “movie magic.”

Pewnen believes the storyline will resonate broadly, highlighting that everyone faces challenges regardless of wealth. “Finding satisfaction within yourself is key; it can prevent chaos in life,” he explained, emphasizing the importance of showcasing Southeast Asian narratives in media.

“We see Korean and American series dominating; it’s time for Southeast Asian stories to shine,” he said. “Let’s make Singapore and Thailand proud, and elevate Southeast Asia as a whole.”
