Stellar Lineup for Pre-Game Entertainment
This year, the AFL has announced an impressive group of Australian musicians who will perform at the Telstra Pre-Game Entertainment. Scheduled for Saturday, September 27th, at the MCG, the event promises a vibrant musical experience.
Baker Boy Returns
Baker Boy, a six-time ARIA Award winner and celebrated Yolŋu artist, is making his much-anticipated return. He impressed audiences during the 2021 Toyota AFL Grand Final and will again deliver a memorable performance. Accompanied by a choir that includes Emma Donovan and Kee’ahn, he will showcase songs from his upcoming album DJANDJAY, including the powerful single “THICK SKIN.”
Baker Boy expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “I’m honoured to be tapped by the AFL again to perform at the Grand Final. When I performed in Perth in 2021, I thought it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so I’m thrilled to be on the lineup again and to share the stage with Snoop. It’s gonna be huge!”
Vera Blue to Sing the National Anthem
Australian singer-songwriter Vera Blue will also return to perform the Australian National Anthem. She recently sang at the 2023 NAB AFLW Grand Final and is excited to take the stage at such a prestigious event. “I feel incredibly honoured to be given the opportunity to perform the National Anthem at Australia’s biggest sporting event,” she said. “The AFL Grand Final is the pinnacle of our national sporting calendar, and I’m so proud to be part of such a significant moment.”
Collaborations and Traditions
Joining Snoop Dogg’s band, Tash Sultana is expected to deliver a show-stopping performance. Additionally, veteran performer Mike Brady AM will feature in the Toyota AFL retiree motorcade, bringing back the tradition of performing his iconic football anthem on Grand Final day.
