For those who might not recall, Enrique Iglesias had a significant impact on music during the 2000s. Despite his enduring popularity, particularly in India, his last visit occurred back in 2012. After a long hiatus, he’s finally making a comeback.

The artist is set to perform in Mumbai this October. Anticipating this event, he opened up about his experiences in India, his musical journey, and his thoughts on Bollywood.

On Returning to India

Initially, only one concert was scheduled for Enrique’s return, but due to overwhelming demand, a second show was quickly added. Hesitatingly, he stated, “You never know when you first announce, but I had a strong feeling about India. The fans here are incredibly devoted.”

Enrique expressed his admiration for the vibrant energy in India that differentiates its crowds from others he has encountered. “The energy is unbelievable. The fans, the people…everything is amazing.” But why the long absence? He shared, “Traveling the world takes time, but I’d love to visit more often.”

Musical Influences and Bollywood Dreams

During his previous trip, Enrique mentioned his appreciation for Indian music, including collaborations with singers like Sunidhi Chauhan. He remarked, “I constantly listen and learn about Indian music; I’ve enjoyed working with various artists and am always eager for more opportunities.”

His charisma and appeal make one wonder why Bollywood hasn’t featured him yet. When queried about potential offers, he humorously replied, “If I could dance, maybe it would work.”

As he marks 30 years in the industry at 50, changes in his style and music came up. Enrique cleverly deflected this to the fans, saying, “That’s a question for them!” Curious if he could rewind time, he added, “I wish I could have come to India hundreds more times.”
