Empire of the Sun’s New EP: A Fresh Take on a Classic

Empire of the Sun is celebrating their timeless track "Walking on a Dream" with a newly released EP.

Introducing Walking on a Dream (Reimagined)

Titled Walking on a Dream (Reimagined), this EP features seven tracks that reinterpret the band’s iconic single through collaborations and remixes from various artists worldwide.

One standout is “Walking on a Dream (Resurrection),” which combines the original vocals with DJ Michael Calfan’s 2011 progressive house anthem, “Resurrection (Axwell Recut).” Additional remixes come from artists like BLOND:ISH, Marlon Hoffstadt, and TEED.

Insights from Axwell

Axwell shared his excitement about the project, stating, “’Walking on a Dream’ and ‘Resurrection’ have always been special to me. Together, they’ve created a massive moment in both my sets and the Swedish House Mafia’s. I’m thrilled it’s getting an official release now.”

The Legacy of "Walking on a Dream"

Since its debut in 2008, “Walking on a Dream” has become a modern classic, often regarded as one of the most significant songs of the 21st century. The synth-pop hit peaked at No. 10 on the ARIA Charts and made it to the top 5 in triple j’s Hottest 100 of that same year. Its popularity surged again in the US Billboard Hot 100 after being featured in a Honda Civic television advertisement, leading to over 2 billion streams to date.

Just last year, Empire of the Sun released Ask That God, marking their first album in seven years.

Artistic Reflections

Nick Littlemore expressed how the journey of creating this music has been unparalleled, stating, “We always ‘go there’ when exploring both ourselves and the outer world. This work symbolizes the greatest shift in consciousness our world has ever experienced, reflected in the music.”
