Ed Sheeran Unveils Exciting Special Guests for Australia & NZ Tour
Ed Sheeran’s highly anticipated tour for Australia and New Zealand has unveiled its supporting acts.
Having sold an impressive 3.1 million tickets throughout his career in the region, Sheeran’s ‘Loop Tour’ is poised to continue its success early next year.
Announced recently, he will be joined by Vance Joy, Mia Wray, BIIRD, and Aaron Rowe on selected dates from January to March.
Vance Joy Joins the Tour
Australian singer-songwriter Vance Joy, known for his breakout hit “Riptide,” will open for Sheeran at all shows in Australia and New Zealand.
Joy expressed his excitement, stating, “I feel very fortunate to be getting to open for Ed around Australia and New Zealand. He is a legendary artist. I am inspired by his songwriting and his ability to captivate any crowd, regardless of size. It’s going to be a great run, and I’m thrilled to be a part of it!”
Mia Wray’s Emergence
Mia Wray will support at all Australian and New Zealand shows, coinciding with her recent ARIA nomination for the Michael Gudinski Breakthrough Artist award.
Reflecting on her journey, Wray shared, “I saw Ed Sheeran play in Brisbane in 2013, and it blew my mind. The first cover I ever uploaded to YouTube was ‘A Team,’ so it’s such an honor to support him. I can’t wait!”
Other Notable Acts
The all-female Irish trad supergroup BIIRD will also join Sheeran’s tour in New Zealand and Perth. Additionally, rising star Aaron Rowe will perform at the Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Adelaide dates.
Upcoming Album Release
This tour follows the release of Sheeran’s new album, Play, which features popular tracks like “Azizam,” “Sapphire,” and “Old Phone.” The album is described as “an explorative, technicolour pop album capturing the fun, chaos, and heart of an artist rejuvenated by life and travel.”
