In ‘Symmetry,’ Ed collaborates with Karan Aujla, contributing to the Punjabi lyrics. This upbeat track captures Ed’s unique style, complemented by a visually striking black-and-white music video. In his social media caption, Ed expressed, “Making and finishing ‘Play’ in India was an exhilarating experience. Over the last decade of touring, I’ve been immersed in diverse music and cultures, and I wanted to showcase as much as possible in this EP.”
‘Karan embodies culture’
Ed highlighted Karan’s influence, stating, “Symmetry is a testament to Karan’s cultural impact and the movement he’s creating with Ikky. Being part of his journey has been incredible. He taught me Punjabi phrases in the recording studio, and we filmed an amazing video. This feels like the start of a collaborative journey, and I’m thrilled to create more with him.”
Ed’s Passion for Hanumankind
Expanding on his experiences, Ed mentioned, “Another track, ‘Dont Look Down’ features @hanumankind, @dhee___, and @musicsanthosh. Meeting HMK at Coachella was inspiring; his show radiated such energy. We’ve been in touch ever since about collaborating. Santhosh is an exceptional film composer and introduced me to Dhee, whose talent is remarkable. I aimed to showcase South India and the Tamil language in this EP, and they’ve done a fantastic job blending elements together.”
He reminisced, “Creating ‘Sapphire’ with Arijit Singh is a cherished memory I will always hold dear.”
Praising Jonita Gandhi, Ed shared, “I first met Jonita during my concert in Mumbai in 2024, and we got to collaborate during subsequent shows. I’m genuinely a fan of her voice and the softness that complements this track perfectly. It also marks my first Hindi song, making this collaboration a true honor.”
He ended by expressing, “This EP reflects a significant part of my journey and the joy of collaboration. I hope listeners appreciate the diverse music styles and discover something new through this project. Much love x.”
Produced by ILYA and others, the EP seamlessly integrates various musical influences that encapsulate Ed Sheeran’s experiences in India.
