Box Office Success of “Dude”
Keerthiswaran’s film “Dude,” featuring Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju, had its theatrical debut on October 17. Despite receiving mixed reviews, the movie performed admirably, amassing ₹55 crore in its first week, a significant achievement in the Tamil cinema landscape.
Dude’s Box Office Collection Performance
As reported by Sacnilk, “Dude” earned approximately ₹1.48 crore net in India on Thursday, bringing its total domestic earnings to ₹55.78 crore. The film started strong with an opening of ₹9.75 crore, followed by ₹10.4 crore and ₹10.6 crore over the weekend. During Diwali, it accumulated ₹10.8 crore. However, it experienced a dip in earnings on Tuesday and Wednesday, which brought in ₹8.75 crore and ₹4 crore, respectively.
As the weekend approaches, it will be interesting to see how the film maintains its momentum. Notably, it surpassed ₹100 crore globally in just six days.
Ilaiyaraaja’s Legal Action
Recently, legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja filed a petition with the Madras High Court, alleging that two of his songs were used in “Dude” without authorization. His attorney presented the case against three music companies, including Sony Music Entertainment India. The court has scheduled its next hearing on November 19.
