Ghaati OTT Release Date: Directed by Krish Jagarlamudi, Ghaati will premiere on Amazon Prime Video starting September 26. The film stars Anushka Shetty alongside Vikram Prabhu and will be available in multiple languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada.
Set in the rugged Eastern Ghats along the Andhra–Odisha border, Ghaati explores the story of the ‘ghaatis,’ a marginalized community caught in a web of illicit trade and smuggling orchestrated by the cruel Naidu brothers. Sheelavathi (Anushka) and Desi Raju (Vikram Prabhu) aspire to liberate their community from exploitation, leading them to confront the ruthless syndicate headed by Kundhul Naidu (Chaitanya Rao Madadi) and Kaastala Naidu (Ravindra Vijay). The film offers a gripping narrative of resilience and defiance.
Produced by Rajeev Reddy and Sai Babu Jagarlamudi under the First Frame Entertainments banner, Ghaati was released in theaters on September 5, garnering mixed reviews. While Anushka’s performance was praised, the film’s storyline faced criticism, impacting its box office performance.
Post-release, Anushka announced her decision to take a break from social media. She shared, “Trading blue light to candle light… Will be stepping away from social media for a bit, just to reconnect to the world and work beyond the scrolling, to where we all actually started. See you all soon with more stories and more love….always forever…Smile always.” Anushka is set to star in her first Malayalam film, Kathanar – The Wild Sorcerer, directed by Rojin Thomas.
