Musician and actor Diljit Dosanjh is actively touring with his latest album, AURA. While preparing for his concert in Sydney, he decided to document some behind-the-scenes experiences. In the video, Diljit spoke of the racist comments he received, where many derided him as just a ‘cab driver.’
Diljit’s Response to Racism
Upon arriving in Australia, Diljit noticed that the paparazzi had taken his pictures. Unfortunately, the comments circulated alongside those images were filled with racial undertones. He shared, “Some agencies reported when I landed in Australia. Someone sent me the comments people were making.” Many remarks labeled him as “the new Uber driver” or a “new 7-11 employee.”
Despite facing these hurtful comments, Diljit expressed his belief in unity: “I’ve seen a lot of these racist comments. The world should be one, and there should be no borders.” He acknowledged the hard work of those he was compared to, stating, “I don’t mind being compared to a cab or truck driver. Without truck drivers, you wouldn’t have bread on your table.” This sentiment resonated deeply with fans, with many praising his positive outlook.
After sharing his experience, fans voiced their support. One fan, who worked security for his AURA show, commented, “200% right… you won my heart!” Another remarked, “Respect for you, brother.”
