Countdown to Deepavali Returns: Mediacorp’s Amarkala Show on Oct 19!
Celebrating Deepavali with Mediacorp
Mediacorp is embracing the spirit of Deepavali with an exciting lineup of programs to mark the festivities. Kicking it off is the legendary Amarkala Deepavali countdown show, back for its 19th year on October 19. The event will be broadcast live from 10 PM to 12:10 AM across mewatch, Mediacorp Entertainment on YouTube, and Vasantham.
Viewers can expect over two hours packed with vibrant dance performances, musical medleys, and appearances from well-known artists such as Chinmayi, Prajeeth, Prasana, Sharon Shobana, Suthasini, and V Suriamurthi.
Additionally, there will be a live segment from Little India featuring hosts Nisha Kumar and Thavanesan Sivananthan, culminating in a midnight countdown to celebrate the Festival of Lights.
The Deepavali festivities will continue with a series of blockbuster films and special programs in various Indian languages airing on Vasantham from October 17 to 21. Among the highlights is the Hindi romantic comedy “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani,” set to air on October 18. Featuring stars Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, the film tells the love story of a Punjabi man and a Bengali journalist navigating cultural differences and family expectations.
Another exciting title is “Thug Life,” a Tamil-language action drama about a mafia kingpin on a journey of redemption and revenge, scheduled for October 21.
