In elegant gowns with sleek, tailored lines, designer Christian Siriano drew inspiration from his shared passion for automobiles with his father during his latest New York Fashion Week collection.
Models graced the runway past vibrant rose beds, showcasing a striking red and black Toyota as the crowd documented the stunning display on their phones. Siriano’s famous celebrity friends were present, applauding the fresh looks he presented. Emphasizing a departure from the traditional masculinity linked with cars, Siriano revealed a collection that celebrated femininity and glamour.
Design Inspiration
“To me, the lines of a car mirror the lines of a corset,” Siriano explained.
This collection playfully shaped fabrics to echo aspects of automobile design. Models walked to energetic techno beats, donned in jersey fabric mimicking oil slicks, while embroidery evoked tire tracks. Bell bottoms were styled with patterns reminiscent of tire leather.
“Who doesn’t admire that iconic, sexy red car?” he questioned. “But who doesn’t also adore that iconic, sexy red dress? How do they merge?”
Celebrating Diversity
Bridging masculine and feminine styles, seasoned model Coco Rocha showcased a black tuxedo blazer mini dress, elegantly draped with red silk cascading down one leg. This vibrant combination echoed the colors of the Toyota situated on stage. True to his inclusive vision, models of all shapes and genders confidently walked the runway.
Male models flaunted chiseled abs beneath glossy cropped jackets paired with wide-leg trousers, showcasing an embodiment of modern fashion.
Singer Adam Lambert made his entrance just before the show in a striking dark brown long-line blazer coat designed by Siriano.

Laverne Cox shared her gratitude, saying, “As my body has changed, Christian has always supported me with fabulous options.” Siriano made headlines with his velvety tuxedo ball gown for Billy Porter at the 2019 Oscars and recently published a book titled “Christian Siriano: The New Red Carpet.”

Closing the show with dramatic flair, a shift to violin melodies marked the finale, with models showcasing evening gowns. In ethereal, sheer corseted dresses, four models posed gracefully in front of the Toyota before making their triumphant exit down the runway.
Giving Back
In a heartfelt gesture, Siriano expressed his desire to aid those impacted by the Los Angeles wildfires. He raised funds by selling his own artwork, along with contributions from ticket sales for his Fashion Week show.
“It was uplifting to have people purchase tickets without the intention of attending,” he reflected. “People don’t require me to donate clothes.”
