Charli XCX Joins Role Model for ‘SNL’ Performance of ‘Sally, When the Wine Runs Out’
Role Model’s Debut on Saturday Night Live
Singer-songwriter Role Model made a striking debut as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live. He performed two songs from the deluxe edition of his second studio album, Kansas Anymore, which hit the shelves in February.
Opening with a Touch of Magic
Introduced by SNL host Amy Poehler, the 28-year-old artist from Maine kicked off the show with “Sally, When the Wine Runs Out.” In his performances, Role Model often invites a fan or another musician to portray the character of Sally. This time, he was accompanied by Charli XCX, who added a special flair to the performance.
A Memorable Guest Appearance
Charli XCX, who previously appeared as an SNL musical guest, delighted the audience with her energetic performance. After dancing exuberantly during the song’s bridge, she stylishly placed her sunglasses on Role Model’s face, blew him a kiss, and confidently strutted offstage.
A Shift in Tone
Role Model followed up with a more subdued performance of “Some Protector.” The artist, whose real name is Tucker Pillsbury, described this latest album as a significant evolution compared to his prior work.
Upcoming Tours
Role Model is set to embark on a series of European shows next month and will head to Australia in February for the Laneway Festival.
