One of the standout qualities of Chantalle Ng is her willingness to be candid about her experiences.
The spotlight was firmly on the 30-year-old actress from Mediacorp when she co-hosted the recent Star Awards with Guo Liang.
Despite having no prior hosting experience, her performance was remarkably polished and expressive.
In fact, it was only after she pointed out a slip-up on social media that we realized she had an ‘oops’ moment during the event.
Ng and Liang were set to introduce the presenters of the Best Drama Serial award.
Guo Liang initiated the introduction by saying, “Our next guests are all A-listers. They’re the Ah Ge Ah Jies everyone knows. They are…”
It seems that Ng was supposed to complete his sentence by naming stars Zoe Tay, Li Nanxing, and Fann Wong.
However, Ng blanked and said nothing. Luckily, Guo Liang quickly stepped in to finish her thought.
Though the moment was fleeting, it clearly left an impression on Ng. She shared her feelings on Instagram, saying, “When your co-host forgets to announce the presenters, this is how Liang Ge saves the day,” complemented by an embarrassed smiling emoji.
Many believe she’s being overly critical of herself.
We’re not alone in thinking that Ng deserves recognition for her performance that evening.
Singaporean voice actor Zhang Miaoyang, a vocal coach at Chinese TV station Phoenix Television and Chairman of the Hong Kong Language Arts Association, also praised her hosting skills on social media. He remarked, “Her Mandarin pronunciation, fluency, and grace truly caught our attention. Beyond acting, she’s undoubtedly a rising star in radio and hosting as well.”
For those who questioned her ability before the event, this should settle the debate.
