Celina Jaitly Seeks Delhi High Court’s Help for Brother’s Safe Return
Celina Jaitly expresses hope through the Delhi High Court for her brother’s safe return from detention in the UAE
Celina Jaitly is turning to the Delhi High Court to seek the release of her brother, Maj (Retd) Vikrant Kumar Jaitly. He has been held under uncertain circumstances in Abu Dhabi since September 6, which has raised significant concerns.
Justice Sachin Datta, who is overseeing the petition filed by Celina through her attorney Raghav Kacker, has directed the Ministry of External Affairs to appoint a nodal officer. This officer will facilitate communication between the Jaitly family and relevant authorities in the UAE.
“The incident occurred on September 6, 2024, when Vikrant went shopping with his wife in Emirates Mall, Abu Dhabi. After 22 days of silence, Celina learned he was detained.”
His wife, Charul, reported that Vikrant was seemingly ‘abducted’ from the parking lot, and since then, there has been no additional information available. Charul has now moved to Bengaluru and is unavailable for further contact.
Celina attempted to reach out to the consulate for assistance, but received no response, prompting her to take further action. “We filed a case in India to pursue this diplomatically,” Raghav explained. Optimistically, he added, “We hope to secure Vikrant’s return, as he is a former soldier and UN peacekeeper.”
A nodal officer has now been appointed to ensure legal support and to keep the family in communication with Vikrant. The next court hearing is scheduled for December 4.
Expressing her gratitude, Celina took to Instagram to thank the High Court for its efforts.
In a heartfelt statement, Celina said, “I have complete faith in our government and judiciary. My brother deserves the nation’s support, particularly given his service as a Special Forces officer.”
“He carries lifelong injuries from serving our country. It’s time for us to stand with him and ensure his safe return,” she asserted.
