Celina Jaitly has found a glimmer of hope in her ongoing quest for justice. Following the Delhi High Court’s ruling, the Central Government has been ordered to provide legal aid to her brother, Major (Retd.) Vikrant Kumar Jaitly, who has been detained in the UAE since September 2024.

Vikrant’s detention stemmed from allegations related to a “national security case,” a situation that has left Celina restless and isolated as her brother’s only immediate relative. Alongside the court’s directive, there is now an emphasis on establishing contact between the siblings.

Celina’s Response

Reacting to the court’s decision, Celina shared her feelings about the lengthy ordeal during a video statement to ANI. “The past year has been a nightmare for me. I am incredibly thankful for today’s ruling. As our nation grows in the global landscape, our soldiers often become targets, especially abroad. This judgment gives me hope for bringing him back,” she expressed.

When approached regarding her role as a UN Equality Champion, Celina refrained from discussing interactions with international bodies. She remains hopeful that the next court update will shed light on her brother’s situation.

Seeing the Light at the End of the Tunnel

Sharing her relief on Instagram, Celina wrote, “Today, I feel immense gratitude as I exit the gates of the Delhi High Court. After 14 months, I have finally arrived at the light at the end of the dark tunnel.”

What Led to the Case?

In her petition, Celina claimed that her brother was “illegally abducted” in the UAE on September 6, 2024. Since then, she has struggled to ascertain his well-being and legal standing. Vikrant, who had called the UAE home since 2016, was employed by Matiti Group, a firm focused on trading and consultancy.

The Delhi High Court has instructed the Ministry of External Affairs to submit a status report within four weeks, with the next hearing set for December 4.
