Celebrating Diwali: Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia Shares Family Traditions at Gurudwara
Family Reunion for Diwali
Actor Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia will be heading to Gurugram on Diwali morning to celebrate with her family. “It’s a reunion of sorts for us,” she shared, noting that her brother is based in New York, while she resides in Mumbai.
Balancing Work and Family
Nimrit, who is currently working on a web show, plans to finish filming late on Choti Diwali before catching a flight early on October 20th. “I’ll spend two days with my parents before jumping back into work in Mumbai and a schedule in Punjab,” she mentioned.
Her Diwali plans include visiting the Gurudwara at Sector 109, where her father serves as president. “We will be organizing a langar to celebrate both Bandi Chor Diwas and Diwali—it’s part of our family tradition. At home, we’ll also prepare Kada Prasad,” she explained.
Simplicity in Celebration
For Nimrit, the celebration remains simple. “I prefer not to overdress; I’ll wear jeans and a kurta. Life has enough vanity, and I cherish any chance to relax without makeup,” she shared. Unfortunately, her brother won’t be able to attend this year, but her focus remains on family.
Nimrit views Diwali as a fresh start—“It’s like a New Year for me,” she reflected. “It’s a moment to break old habits and embrace change, both spiritually and personally. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be with my family, especially since we can’t always meet up.”
