CBFC Rejects Shane Nigam's Haal Certification Over Beef Biryani Controversy

The Controversy Surrounding Shane Nigam’s Haal

The Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has halted the certification process for Shane Nigam’s upcoming film, Haal, due to concerns over certain scenes, including one depicting the consumption of beef biryani. The film’s creators have been asked to address 15 specific changes before it can receive approval.

The Censor Board’s Requests

The delay in Haal’s certification stems from the CBFC’s requests for multiple scene alterations, including references to “Dhwaja Pranaman” and “Sangham kawal und.” The film’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) reported that the producers have insisted that the depiction of beef biryani is not present, labeling the board’s concerns as unfounded.

The film’s future hangs in the balance, and a change to an A certificate appears likely if the creators comply with the suggested edits. In response to this setback, the filmmakers have taken their case to the Kerala High Court to contest the CBFC’s ruling.

Production and ReleaseChallenges

The initial preview of Haal was shown to the CBFC on September 10. According to the PRO, the team is committed to cooperating with the regulatory body to resolve the issues at hand. This film features Shane Nigam alongside Sakshi Vaidya and Johny Antony.

In light of the certification delays, the release of Haal has been postponed to avoid overlapping with Shane Nigam’s other film, Balti, which recently debuted in theaters. The production banner, JVJ Productions, announced the change to ensure each film receives proper promotional attention.

JVJ Productions commented, “Both big-budget films starring Shane were approaching release around the same time, leading to the need for joint discussions.” The decision to delay was made to prioritize the overall success of both films.
