Catch Peter Hook's Tribute to Joy Division and New Order in Australia 2026

Peter Hook, known as the original bassist for both Joy Division and New Order, will be touring Australia in July 2026 with his band The Light. Fans can look forward to live performances of iconic hits from his previous groups.

This tour marks the 25th anniversary of New Order’s album Get Ready, which Hook will perform in its entirety. Alongside this, audiences can expect a mix of classic tracks including “Disorder,” “She’s Lost Control,” “Shadowplay,” “Transmission,” “Atmosphere,” and “Love Will Tear Us Apart.”

Hook shared his thoughts on the music, saying, “Fans come to see us because they love the sound… New Order doesn’t sound like New Order, which I’m happy about — and also outraged.”

Upcoming Tour Schedule

The tour kicks off on July 13th, 2026, in Adelaide and will progress to the east coast with concerts in Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney on July 16th, 17th, and 18th. The final show is set for Perth on July 20th.

A Bit of Background

Peter Hook founded Peter Hook and The Light in 2010 with the goal of performing every song he has recorded. This initiative followed his departure from New Order in 2007, which stemmed from ongoing tensions with fellow band members, particularly Bernard Sumner.

Despite continuing without Hook, New Order faced their own changes when, in 2009, Sumner revealed that he wasn’t interested in making music with the band anymore. Following this, Hook initiated a legal dispute, asserting that the remaining members proceeded without his consultation, creating a situation he regarded as a “fait accompli.”
