Camp Cope Unveils Their Last Live Vinyl Album Release

Camp Cope’s Farewell Album Release
Camp Cope is set to release their final concert recording, Camp Cope Live at Sydney Opera House, on October 17th. This limited vinyl captures the essence of their farewell performance held in 2023.
A Unique Album Experience
The album features a selection of tracks from their three previous records, enriched by guest appearances from Julia Jacklin and other friends. Notably, it includes the sole recorded 10-minute rendition of "The Opener," adding a special touch for fans.
Band’s Legacy and Reflections
Formed in 2015, Camp Cope—comprised of Georgia Maq, Kelly-Dawn Hellmrich, and Sarah ‘Thomo’ Thompson—gained recognition not only for their music but also for their advocacy for women’s representation in the music industry. They officially disbanded in 2023.
Maq shares her thoughts on this release: “This album is special as it captures the very last time we were together. Kelly and Thomo have profoundly influenced me, and we will forever be Camp Cope.”
Celebrating Their Journey
Hellmrich reflects on their journey, stating, “At one point, they said we’d ruined our careers for being too loud and too opinionated. Yet, we ended up selling out the Concert Hall at the Sydney Opera House, filled with people who likely faced similar judgments.”
She expresses her gratitude for the album, noting its role in preserving that empowering night.
Individual Paths After Camp Cope
Georgia Maq has been carving a path in her solo career, transitioning from Pleaser’s heartfelt pop to successful singles like “Joe Rogan,” “Tropical Lush Ice,” and “Someone Stranger” featuring Alice Ivy. Recently, she announced her upcoming EP titled God’s Favourite, set to release on September 4th.
Meanwhile, Hellmrich is diving into the literary world with her debut book, which has been picked up by Penguin Random House. This book will blend her insights with interviews from influential female and gender-diverse musicians in Australia.
Thompson continues to support independent artists through her role at Poison City Records. She emphasizes the importance of releasing Camp Cope Live at Sydney Opera House both on vinyl and digitally through Bandcamp, reflecting their commitment to independence from major streaming platforms.
Final Thoughts
As the album approaches its release date, fans can look forward to hearing their beloved tracks live. This album captures the spirit of Camp Cope and celebrates their impact on the music scene.
