Borderline is gearing up for an exciting summer as they embark on their *Chrysalis* EP release tour. Fresh off a remarkable year that included a debut at SXSW and a No. 1 spot on the NZ Hot 20 chart, they’re set to perform in six cities across New Zealand and Australia this upcoming August and September.
The tour, presented by Live Nation, kicks off in Tauranga on August 22. Following that, the band will make stops in Wellington, Auckland, Christchurch, and two shows in Australia, specifically Melbourne and Sydney. Tickets are available to the public on Thursday, July 24th at 1:00 PM local time, with a pre-sale through Live Nation starting at 12:00 PM on July 23rd.
Celebrating the Success of *Chrysalis*
This tour celebrates the success of Borderline’s latest EP, *Chrysalis*, which features hit tracks like “New Romance,” “When It’s Raining,” and “Heartbeat.” These songs have already garnered significant airplay on triple j and BBC Radio 1, further propelling Borderline into the spotlight on an international scale.
Meet the Band
Formed in Auckland by four childhood friends — Ben Glanfield (vocals/guitar/keys), Jackson Boswell (drums/vocals), Matthew McFadden (lead guitar), and Max Harries (bass) — Borderline blends indie rock, pop, and funk into a sound that feels both expansive and deeply rooted. Their earlier singles, including “Spinning” and last year’s *Perfect Movie Scene* EP, drew local attention. However, it was the viral rise of “Heartbeat” and their decision to pursue music full-time that marked the beginning of their journey to global recognition.
This year, Borderline became the first signing from Australia/New Zealand to the influential indie label EMPIRE since it launched in the region in 2024, joining a roster that includes artists like Shaboozey, Tyga, and G-DRAGON.
“If you can hear our connection in the music,” says Jackson Boswell, the drummer, “that would be really special.”
