Billy McFarland Puts Fyre Fest Brand Up for Sale on eBay

## Billy McFarland’s Latest Fyre Festival Venture
Billy McFarland has taken a bizarre twist in the ongoing saga of the Fyre Festival, a journey that began with infamous stories of inadequate accommodations and lackluster food options. He has decided to auction off the rights to the Fyre brand on eBay.
## New Chapter for Fyre Festival
Earlier this year, after his previous attempts to launch Fyre Fest II failed, McFarland acknowledged the need for a change. He proposed stepping back from the brand, giving way for new leadership to take the reins and pursue its future independently.
## A Quick Sale
Soon after his announcement, filmmaker Shawn Rech, known for co-founding the TruBlu streaming service, seized the opportunity. He acquired several Fyre Festival trademarks to develop a music streaming service and a broadcast channel.
### Remaining Opportunities
However, a significant portion of the brand associated with live events was still available. Recently, McFarland revealed that he had been close to finalizing a seven-figure deal for the complete Fyre brand intellectual property. Unfortunately, that deal fell through, and he did not disclose any details about the prospective buyer.
## The Auction on eBay
Despite setbacks, McFarland remains a determined entrepreneur. He recently posted a video on Instagram announcing his latest plan: auctioning the Fyre Festival brand on eBay, starting at just one cent. He noted that he has received over 1,000 inquiries about the Fyre brand but feels ready to explore more substantial opportunities.
### Impressions and Future Prospects
In his video, McFarland highlighted the staggering “32 billion impressions” that Fyre Fest has garnered since its inception in 2017. He emphasized that the brand’s future owner would benefit from a built-in platform to launch festivals, collaborate on merchandise, and establish a media presence.
### Details of the Listing
The eBay listing specifies exclusions regarding certain parts of the brand that Rech has already acquired, including the Fyre Music streaming platform and a planned Fyre Fest theater project.
As of now, the auction has seen 71 bidders pushing the price up to $50,200, with a week left to place bids. The sale is set to conclude on July 14 at 12:44 p.m. ET.
