Ayushmann Khurrana has had a remarkable Diwali with his film, Thamma. This horror-comedy opened to a phenomenal collection of ₹25 crore on its first day in India. According to Khurrana, this impressive number not only validates his career but also challenges the long-held belief that audiences prefer sequels and superstar films during festival releases.
Ayushmann Reflects on Thamma’s Success
Speaking about the affection Thamma has garnered, Ayushmann expressed, “As an entertainer, it fills me with joy to see how warmly audiences are receiving Thamma during this festive season. When my visionary producer Dinesh Vijan first mentioned a Diwali release, I felt an exhilaration I had long awaited in my career.”
Thamma has been met with strong critical acclaim and positive audience reactions, as evidenced by its impressive opening day figures. Ayushmann further noted, “This overwhelming first-day love breaks the long-standing myth that audiences only desire sequels and high-profile films during Diwali. Our success with Thamma demonstrates that viewers crave great content.”
