Arshad Warsi: Bollywood’s Safe Choices vs. Saiyaara’s Bold Move
Arshad Warsi Discusses the Bollywood Norms
Actor Arshad Warsi recently expressed his thoughts about Bollywood’s conventional approach to filmmaking. In an interview, he highlighted how filmmakers tend to stick to tried-and-true formulas, avoiding risks that could lead to unique storytelling.
On the Lack of Bold Storytelling
Warsi noted that Bollywood often plays it safe when it comes to film genres. He stated, “I feel we don’t take chances anymore, especially in Hindi cinema. For instance, example superhero movies have become the trend, making every film follow that formula. It makes you wonder where the authentic storytelling has gone.”
Commendation for Saiyaara and Other Films
Warsi commended the film Saiyaara for its success despite the overwhelming popularity of superhero films. He remarked that it performed well because it dares to be different, “No one expected that a simple love story would make such an impact.” He believes that films should embrace risks and novelty.
The Bollywood vs. South Cinema Discussion
During the interview, when asked about the perceived competition between Bollywood and South Indian films, Warsi emphasized that a film’s quality is what truly matters. He mentioned that movies like Kantara and Saiyaara break through barriers of genre, showing that good storytelling is universal.
About Saiyaara and Kantara: Chapter 1
Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1 has seen tremendous success, grossing over ₹717.50 crore worldwide after its theatrical release. Meanwhile, Saiyaara, featuring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has garnered ₹569.75 crore globally after its release.
Recently, Warsi appeared in Bhagwat Chapter One: Raakshas on ZEE5. He also has Welcome to the Jungle coming up, alongside notable actors like Akshay Kumar and Jacqueline Fernandez, as well as a fourth installment of Dhamaal.
