AP Dhillon Explains His Refusal to Sing for Bollywood Despite Major Offers
AP Dhillon’s Perspective on Bollywood
Understanding His Refusal
Punjabi artist AP Dhillon has made significant strides in the music industry with hits like Brown Munde and Excuses. During a recent podcast with SMTV, he discussed his reasons for not participating in Bollywood music, claiming that various actors tend to exploit songs and artists for their profit.
Insights on Exploitation
In a candid statement, Dhillon told listeners, “I’ve never done a Bollywood song mainly because I care for my community. It’s not just about Bollywood for me; I want to set a positive example. Producers often want to take ownership of the music, including rights and remixes, which isn’t fair.”
He emphasized that this exploitation not only affects him but also has repercussions for emerging artists who rely on their work for income. "If I give in, then junior artists will follow suit, and I don’t want to see them lose out," he added.
The Impact of His Stance
Dhillon highlighted that, until certain ethical changes occur within the industry, he will continue to resist Bollywood offers. While many Punjabi singers have found success in Bollywood, he remains firm in his position, having recently worked with Shreya Ghoshal on a track titled Thodi Si Daaru, featuring Tara Sutaria.
