Director Anuparna Roy has announced that her acclaimed film, Songs of Forgotten Trees, will make its home premiere at the DHARAMSHALA International Film Festival (DIFF) 2025. This follows its success at the Venice Film Festival, where it earned the prestigious Orizzonti Award for Best Director, making it the only Indian film honored in that category.

Anuparna expressed her anticipation for the home audience to experience the film. “Our film has touched global viewers, but I am filled with joy to finally bring it home,” she stated. The film is set to close the festival, which will run from October 30 to November 2.

About Songs of Forgotten Trees
Post-Venice, Songs of Forgotten Trees has also been featured at the BFI London Film Festival, Cork International Film Festival, and the Indian Film Festival of Sydney (IFFS). Produced by Bibhanshu Rai, Romil Modi, and Ranjan Singh and co-produced by Navin Shetty and Anuparna, the film explores the intertwined lives of two women in Mumbai. It depicts the story of Thooya, an aspiring actress navigating the city’s challenges with charm and resilience. It stars Naaz Shaikh and Sumi Baghel.
