Anupamaa Cast Responds to Smriti Irani’s Remarks
Dissatisfaction Over Comments
The cast of Anupamaa, featuring Rupali Ganguly, has voiced their discontent regarding remarks made by Smriti Irani. In recent statements, Irani downplayed the comparison between her iconic show, “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi,” which made a comeback after 17 years, and the current hit series, Anupamaa.
Responses from the Cast
Several members of the Anupamaa team didn’t hold back in expressing their feelings about Irani’s comments. Alpana Buch, who plays Baa, stated, “Honourable Smriti ji, this was not expected from you.” Milloni Kapadia, who portrays Kinjal, shared her heartbreak at witnessing their efforts seemingly unappreciated.
Cast Members Speak Out
Actor Jaswir Kaur, who plays a friend of Rupali Ganguly’s character, questioned why two distinct shows, from vastly different eras, were being compared. She emphasized that the unique contexts of both shows should be acknowledged. Similarly, Zalak Desai, who portrays Khyati Patel Kothari, remarked on the lack of fairness in such comparisons.
Krutika Desai, who plays Anupamaa’s daughter Pakhi, also weighed in, pointing out that Rupali Ganguly has been a long-standing figure in the industry. She noted the importance of uplifting one another rather than belittling the show or its lead.
