Anubhav reflected, saying, “I encounter many individuals who tell me they appreciate Ra.One now, but at the time, it was labeled a flop. The failure caused me a lot of pain. Creating a film with Shah Rukh Khan that didn’t resonate with audiences left me emotionally shattered. It took considerable time to heal from that experience.”
Reflections on Collaboration
The director went on to discuss his collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan, stating, “I feel incredibly lucky to have crossed paths with Shah Rukh. I hold him in high regard beyond just being a star and an actor. Even if our paths don’t cross again professionally, knowing him as a person is fulfilling. He is incredibly passionate and compassionate. Despite his fame, he maintains a middle-class mentality, offering countless lessons.”
Though Anubhav expressed his desire to work with him again, he added that he currently lacks a story suitable for Khan, who is also preoccupied with various projects.
Since the release of Ra.One, Anubhav has continued to create impactful films such as Mulk, Article 15, Thappad, and Bheed.
As for Shah Rukh Khan, he recently earned the National Award for Best Actor for his role in Jawan. Following that, he starred in the 2023 film Dunki, with the upcoming King featuring Deepika Padukone and his daughter Suhana Khan.
