The Star Awards struggle continues for actor Andie Chen, who once again left the ceremony without any accolades.
The 40-year-old was nominated for three awards: Best Actor for his portrayal of a strict father in Born to Shine, Top 10 Most Popular Male Artiste, and BYD Favourite Male Character.
The Best Actor award was ultimately given to Special Achievement Award winner Christopher Lee, who also secured the Best Programme Host award for Dishing With Chris Lee Season 2.
In a moment caught on camera, Lee approached Chen to express his condolences. Chen humorously responded, “You still have the cheek to come up to me?”
“You will surely get it next time, okay?” Lee reassured Chen after sharing a heartfelt hug.
When 8days.sg met with the Star Search 2007 winner, even this writer felt compelled to console him for a few moments.
After all, it’s hard not to sympathize with someone who’s been waiting 16 years since his first nomination for Best Newcomer in 2009.

“But it has been a long time, and I am already doing my best,” Chen responded with a laugh.
Despite the evident disappointment, Chen reassured us he isn’t devastated.
“I think that feeling peaked a few years ago, and now I’m in a better place. I suppose I’ll just have to wait until the stars align for me,” he reflected.
Chen humorously noted that his family has grown accustomed to his lack of wins at this point.

“I do feel
However, there is at least one person openly expressing her disappointment—his nine-year-old daughter, Avery.
“My kids are staying with my brother, and he texted me that she is quite sad that I didn’t win,” he mentioned.
Still, Chen sees this as an opportunity to teach his kids a valuable lesson.
“They have never seen me stop, and I’m not about to stop now. If you truly love what you’re doing, you keep going,” he stated.
The couple also has a son, Aden, who is 10.
Despite everything, Chen finds joy in witnessing his colleagues receiving their Top 10 Most Popular Awards.
He mentioned that he doesn’t feel suited for the popularity contest aspect.
“There are many elements of the ‘popularity’ contest that don’t resonate with me,” he noted, opting not to elaborate further.
Nevertheless, he emphasized his dedication to acting.
“An acting award has been my goal throughout my career, and it would be wonderful to be acknowledged,” said Chen.
