All Time Low Discusses Vocal Struggles at Concert: “Not a Light Decision”
Shortened concerts can be disappointing for both artists and attendees, and recently, Alex Gaskarth from All Time Low faced this situation at Colorado’s iconic Red Rock Amphitheatre.
In two social media updates, Gaskarth explained his reasons for concluding the performance ahead of schedule and shared some unfortunate news for fans in Washington. Their Seattle concert has been canceled after Gaskarth was diagnosed with an acute infection in his larynx.
Health Issues Affecting the Show
In his first post, Gaskarth mentioned that he woke up feeling quite unwell before the performance. Despite his efforts to recover quickly, he felt something was off just one song into the set.

Facing the Challenge
“During my 20+ years of touring, I have never faced a voice-loss challenge quite like this on stage,” Gaskarth stated. He emphasized that pushing through could risk serious, irreversible damage.
Gaskarth expressed deep gratitude to the audience for their understanding and support during this vulnerable moment. He noted that their voices felt like a warm hug when he needed it the most.
Medical Update and Future Plans
In a follow-up post, he provided an update on his health and thanked his medical team and a local ENT specialist for their support. “They examined my vocal cords and fortunately found no serious damage,” he shared.
He also expressed relief that any long-term recovery won’t disrupt their busy tour schedule, which includes a December appearance in Australia for Good Things Festival.
However, he did mention, “the bad news is that I have an acute infection affecting my larynx, necessitating careful monitoring during recovery.”
The band has officially canceled the Seattle show and advised ticket holders to connect with the venues for inquiries.
