Alicia Keys may pop up when the national tour of her musical ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ comes to your town

The “Hell’s Kitchen” cast recently gathered in Cleveland for a national tour that spans 28 cities across the South, Midwest, and West through 2026. “It’s thrilling to see the cast take the journey across the country. Not everyone can visit Broadway,” Keys remarked.

For those attending the musical, there may be an extra delight in store — Keys suggested she could show up unexpectedly. “As an artist, I’m excited to share my energy with others. You never know where I might pop up,” she said.

About the Musical

“Hell’s Kitchen” centers on 17-year-old New York piano prodigy Ali, whose journey is intertwined with Keys’ own life story. The musical integrates well-known hits like “Fallin’” and “If I Ain’t Got You,” along with new songs such as “Kaleidoscope.”

Ali grapples with her passions, relationships, and her mother in a challenging environment. Keys aimed for the story to resonate with diverse audiences, opining, “It’s essential for audiences to see their experiences reflected on stage.”

The Young Star of the Tour

Maya Drake, an 18-year-old recent graduate from San Jose, California, plays Ali. She described the unique privilege of performing to Keys’ music, stating, “Being part of this show is incredibly special.” Her journey to land the role included a rigorous audition process, culminating in her attending a Broadway performance of “Hell’s Kitchen.”

After the cast announcement, Drake and her fellow performers received a warm welcome onstage at the Shubert Theatre, which further motivated them. “Meeting experienced actors like Jessica Vosk was enlightening,” she noted.

What’s Next for the Tour

This tour coincides with the release of “Hell’s Kitchen: Behind the Dream,” a book detailing the show’s evolution over 13 years. After Cleveland, the production will visit cities including Pittsburgh, Chicago, and Atlanta, among others.

Drake looks forward to performing in her hometown of San Francisco, eagerly anticipating the travels ahead. “I’ve not explored much before this tour, so I’m excited,” she shared.

Keys, who has been awarded two Tony Awards and a Grammy for this project, is optimistic about the musical’s potential outside New York City. “While rooted in my New York experiences, this story is universal,” she concluded.
