Priyadarshan also recounted conversations with Akshay Kumar following the tragic news. “Akshay mentioned feeling a sense of depression after working closely with Asrani for 40-45 days. Asrani often provided valuable life guidance,” he noted.

On the day when the news broke, Akshay Kumar expressed his grief on social media. “Speechless with grief at the passing of Asrani ji. We had just shared a warm hug a week ago,” he wrote, recalling their recent interactions and the lessons learned from the late actor.

Asrani, a graduate of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), launched his career in the late ’60s, initially in Punjabi cinema. He gained fame through Bollywood films like Abhimaan and Chupke Chupke. As the years progressed, he solidified his status as one of the industry’s top comedians, particularly known for his role in the classic film Sholay.

In more recent years, Asrani appeared in popular films such as Hera Pheri, Malamaal Weekly, and Dhamaal. His contributions to cinema, especially his comedic timing, will be remembered fondly by audiences and co-stars alike.
