AI's Modern Twist: Mahabharata Scene with Bedside Table Goes Viral

The quirky mix of a modern bedside table in an ancient setting has online viewers chuckling.

Currently, a new rendition of the epic Mahabharata is gaining popularity on OTT platforms. This adaptation, titled Mahabharat – Ek Dharmayudh, utilizes artificial intelligence to create scenes without physical actors. Critics have called it out for ‘normalizing’ the role of AI in filmmaking, especially in a time when many creators are wary about AI’s influence. One particular scene caught viewers’ attention due to the presence of modern furniture in the ancient palace of Hastinapur.

Available for streaming on JioHotstar, the AI Mahabharat was produced by the Collective Media Network. The first episode, released on October 25, traces the birth of Prince Devvrat, later known as Bheeshma, under King Shantanu’s reign. In one scene, Goddess Ganga is depicted with her child in a palace room. While the decor appears mostly era-appropriate, an anachronistic bedside table stole the spotlight.

This table, looking quite modern, briefly appears in the background, prompting viewers to take screenshots and share them online. “Watching AI Mahabharata on Jio Hotstar… I’m dying at the bedside desk,” one user tweeted.

Internet Can’t Stop Laughing

The humorous nature of the scene didn’t go unnoticed, with one viewer quipping, “Just missing a wireless charger.” Many others expressed that the AI-driven portrayal lacked authenticity and had an uncanny vibe. One viewer remarked, “My mom thought it looked so perfect until I explained it was AI. She was really upset.” Another chimed in, highlighting a framed picture of a person in a suit that seemed out of place.
